Emergency Rental Assistance

Thanks to temporary funds provided by the State, Community Action Wayne/Medina is able to assist Wayne and Medina County residents with rent, utilities, water, and sewage affected by Coronavirus (COVID-19).

QUALIFICATIONS

Income-eligible Ohioans threatened with a utility disconnection may qualify for assistance with water, gas, or electric payments. Community Action Wayne/Medina administers the Home Energy Winter and Summer Crisis programs (HEAP, E-HEAP, SCP), Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP), and a water assistance program. 

Qualifications include:

  • Qualified for unemployment, reduction in household income, or increase in household expenses related to COVID-19.
  • Facing eviction or late notice from their landlord.
  • Experiencing imminent homelessness or housing stability.
  • Threatened with disconnection of utilities.
  • Must be able to prove financial hardship is a result of COVID-19 (reduction of income or increase in expenses).
  • 80% Area Median Income (AMI), based on 12 months’ income or 30 days. Rental arrears and past due utility amounts from March 13, 2020, may be paid only if there's a pandemic-related hardship.
