ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including:
    • Improving readiness of children for school by developing their literacy and phonemic.
    • Print and numeracy awareness.
    • Their understanding and use of language.
    • Their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary.
    • Their appreciation of books.
    • Their problem solving abilities.
  • To establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • To lead the planning of activities that support the social and emotional development of the children.
  • To ensure that the families and children have access to all services that are offered and that they are impacted positively by the program.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all licensing standards.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and parents.
  • Assist in developing daily lesson plans.
  • Assist in conducting screenings and completing paperwork.
  • Ensure the children are safe and cared for at all times.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, child development or closely related field with 1 year experience being responsible for the education and care of children ages 0 - 5. A degree other than Early Childhood Education or Child Development requires six appropriate college courses.
  • Basic understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Be able to communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Willingness to learn about position and organization.
  • Computer skills or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds while attending to the needs of children.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Own transportation.
  • Must be insurable for driving.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Be sensitive to low income families.
  • Must successfully pass criminal records check, physical examination and pre-employment drug screen.
