ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including:
- Improving readiness of children for school by developing their literacy and phonemic.
- Print and numeracy awareness.
- Their understanding and use of language.
- Their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary.
- Their appreciation of books.
- Their problem solving abilities.
- To establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
- To lead the planning of activities that support the social and emotional development of the children.
- To ensure that the families and children have access to all services that are offered and that they are impacted positively by the program.
- Assist in the maintenance of all licensing standards.
- Work cooperatively with staff and parents.
- Assist in developing daily lesson plans.
- Assist in conducting screenings and completing paperwork.
- Ensure the children are safe and cared for at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, child development or closely related field with 1 year experience being responsible for the education and care of children ages 0 - 5. A degree other than Early Childhood Education or Child Development requires six appropriate college courses.
- Basic understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Be able to communicate in writing and verbally.
- Willingness to learn about position and organization.
- Computer skills or willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds while attending to the needs of children.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Own transportation.
- Must be insurable for driving.
- Willing to travel.
- Be sensitive to low income families.
- Must successfully pass criminal records check, physical examination and pre-employment drug screen.
