ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Understand and implement a curriculum that is supportive of the developmental milestones of children in the age group of service.
  • Take a lead role in facilitating literacy experiences.
  • Take the lead role in assuring opportunities with children for creative self expression through art, music, movement and dialogue.
  • Assist children with skills in decision making and problem solving.
  • Appropriately intervene in situations to assist children with atypical behaviors or development.
  • Be inclusive to children with disabilities while utilizing the IFSP.
  • Engage the families in conversations regarding the activities the family participates in.
  • Provide the parents with resources and work with them to plan home activities for the children that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Assume a lead role in the provision of family style meals at family gatherings.
  • Take a lead role in ongoing documentation and observations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED and 3 years experience in related field.
  • Equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with families.
  • Basic understanding of Child Development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Be able to communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Basic understanding of available community resources and referral process for those resources.
  • Willingness to learn about position and organization.
  • Basic understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Own transportation.
  • Must be insurable for driving.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Be sensitive to low income families.
  • Must successfully pass criminal records check, physical examination and pre-employment drug screen.
