ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Purchase and prepare food that is nutritionally consistent with the menu.
• To work as a team when planning the menu with other cooks.
• Encourage participation of parents in all aspects of the nutrition program.
• Maintain and model appropriate sanitation procedures in the kitchen and classroom.
• Assist at mealtimes with food service.
• Monitor spending at the site level and assure purchases are economically feasible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED with at least 6 months experience in food service.
• Basic understanding of safe food handling procedures.
• Be able to communicate in writing and verbally.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid Drivers License.
• Own transportation.
• Must be insurable for driving.
• Willing to travel.
• Ability to work evening hours if required.
• Be sensitive to low income families.
• Physical exam, pre-employment drug screen and criminal records check required.
