The Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) assists families in lowering heating costs by improving the ability of the home to release and retain heat. On average, households receiving weatherization services typically reduce energy costs by over $150 per year. Services are available to residents of Wayne and Medina Counties. Many households qualifying for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are eligible to participate in this program. Individuals/families with incomes at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines may also be available for HWAP services. For further program or eligibility information contact CAW/M.
HWAP ACTIVITIES:
- Attic, wall and floor/foundation insulation
- Heating system tune-ups and repairs
- Health and safety testing and inspection
- Blower door guided air leakage reduction
- Individualized client energy education
The HWAP Program is funded through the Ohio Department of Development; Office of Energy Efficiency. Community Action Wayne/Medina also partners with Columbia Gas-Warm Choice Program and Dominion East Ohio Gas-House Warming Program to provide additional weatherization services.
