Early Learning Initiative

Community Action Wayne/Medina has recently joined forces with the Ohio Departments of Education and Job and Family Services to run the Early Learning Initiative in Wayne and Medina counties. ELI, as it is better known, is a joint venture to promote kindergarten readiness in private daycares for preschoolers.

Eligibility, based on age, income, and employment status is determined through your County Department of JFS. While traditional child care subsidy through JFS only allows families to make up to 185% of the poverty guidelines, ELI eligibility is based on 195%.

As a full time program designed to meet the educational needs of children in a comprehensive manner, ELI does not restrict the child's schedule to only those hours parents are at work or school. It also includes the possibility of eliminating the family's co-payments.

If you are interested in more information, call our CAWM office and ask to speak with an enrollment specialist.
